Reactive Dog Bootcamp

Board and train

Our Dog Bootcamp program is designed for dogs with any reactivity (barking, lunging, intense fixation, aggression) towards dogs or people, or other behavioral concerns such as extreme separation anxiety, noise phobia, fearful behavior, resource guarding, and more. This program is 5 weeks long, because reactive dogs need more repetitions, and systematic desensitization, with calculated and controlled exposure designed to help them cope with stress, and to reorient their nervous system. While dog training is not a ‘magic fix’ for reactivity and aggression, Dog Dynamix can help Denver dog owners get better control over their troubled dogs, and set them up to succeed. We require an in-house evaluation where we can interact with your dog and give you a clear picture about what training can accomplish for you and your dog.

How it works

At Dog Dynamix, we believe every dog deserves a chance to live a calmer, more balanced life. Our Reactive Dog Bootcamp combines calculated desensitization, controlled exposure, and positive reinforcement to help your dog build confidence and reduce stress.

STEP

1

Free Consultation and Evaluation

We start with a FREE phone consultation to discuss your dog’s behavior and goals. Afterward, we require an in-house evaluation, where our trainers will assess your dog’s behavior, triggers, and overall personality. This allows us to give you a clear picture of what training can accomplish for you and your dog.

Reactive dogs require more repetitions, systematic desensitization, and controlled exposure to address their challenges. Our trainers will:

  • Work with your dog daily in either a Board and Train or Day Train format.
  • Focus on reorienting your dog’s nervous system to better cope with stress.
  • Use calculated exposure to triggers like other dogs, strangers, bicycles, and loud noises in a safe and controlled environment.
  • Provide tools and strategies to help your dog develop more appropriate responses to stress and fear.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Q:  How should I choose my dog trainer?

A: We recommend the following when searching for a ‘dog trainer near me’:

  • Check online reviews (GoogleFacebook, etc)
  • Browse social media pages (Facebook and Instagram), watching for proof of happy, well-trained dogs.
  • Sign up for a phone consultation to discuss your dog in depth
  • Ask about the dog-to-trainer ratio, especially for large-volume facilities
  • As for your prospective dog trainers professional experience, including:
    • Years training dogs full time
    • Experience in other dog-related careers (animal shelter, veterinary care, boarding and daycare services, etc.)
    • Check for titles in dog sports, industry-related awards, or otherwise
    • Ask about mentorships, workshops, and seminars they’ve attended

A: We want dogs to graduate our training programs with a solid balance of ‘want to’ and ‘have to’. The ‘want to’ part of the equation comes from a lot of positive reinforcement and motivational training techniques, so the dogs are happy and eager-to-please. The ‘have to’ portion is for their safety, and so they can do more with their owners. We are a balanced training facility, meaning we use all four quadrants of learning in our training programs. We teach dogs what we want them to do, and then enforce them with fair corrections and humane training methods.

A: Step one is a phone consultation, so we can make sure we are a good match and that we can make sure we are putting your dog in the right program. Once we’ve determined a program and chosen a start date, we get you in our online pet portal, create the reservation, and take a non-refundable deposit to book the stay. Once you complete the online portal, we are ready to rock and roll!

A: A board and train program is a great way to get advanced dog obedience training FAST. We work 7 days a week to give your dog training repetitions in the house, on the training property, and out on field trips (pet friendly stores, parks, trails, and more). Your dog will spend every day with a professional trainer, getting in multiple training sessions and working on house manners. That being said, training your dog is only half of the equation.
